Biosecurity
All adult goats 6 months of age and older are tested annually for CAE and Johnes via blood/milk ELISA. We also do fecal PCR testing once a year for Johnes. Due to the lack of reliable testing, we do not regularly test for CL. In the event a goat was to get an abscess, a culture would be performed to rule out CL.
Sales Policy
When you purchase a goat from Waters Edge, you are expected to have read and agreed to these terms.
We reserve the right to refuse a potential buyer for any reason. We also reserve the right to change our mind and retain any goat previously offered for sale prior to final payment. In this unlikely event, deposits can be credited towards another goat or refunded at buyers option.
A non-refundable deposit equal to 50% of the sale price will hold the kid until weaning or an agreed upon time shortly after weaning. Please understand that all deposits are non-refundable because you are asking us to take an animal off the market and reject other possible offers. If a goat is past weaning age when we receive a deposit, the goat will need to be paid in full, and picked up or shipped within a reasonable time (usually no more than 2 weeks after receipt of deposit), or boarding charges may apply. A written statement of the estimated pick-up date must be sent by email or FB Messenger when you make the deposit.
Boarding charges will be $5.00 per day per goat for every day past the agreed upon pick-up date. Please note that the deposit is subject to forfeiture, and the goat or goats may be offered for sale again at any time after our agreed upon pickup date.
Transport is arranged by and paid for by the buyer. The buyer is responsible for any fees associated with intrastate health certificates, shipping containers, and transportation.
Acceptable payment methods are cash, PayPal (sending to friends), or Venmo. Checks are accepted for deposits only and NOT for final payment. UNLESS check is received 2 weeks prior to the agreed on pick-up date. Do not bring a check for final payment at the time of pick-up.
The health and future development of any goat can not be guaranteed after it leaves Waters Edge Farm. Goats offered for sale are healthy and free of disqualifying defects at the time of the sale, and the buyer, by completing the purchase, is agreeing to purchase the animal “as is”. (disqualifying defects are listed in the ADGA guidebook and would make the animal ineligible for the show ring)
